Somerset Community College recently named several current students as student ambassadors. SCC Student Ambassadors serve the college in a public relations capacity and represent the college at campus and community events. In order to be considered as an ambassador, students must hold at least a 3.0 grade point average, have a genuine interest in assisting others, possess a positive attitude and enthusiasm, have excellent interpersonal communication skills, showcase the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, be willing to speak in front of a group of people, be punctual and reliable and be knowledgeable of SCC policies and procedures.

SCC Student Ambassadors are expected to:

  • Educate prospective students, school groups and the general public on the programs, resources and student life at SCC
  • Represent SCC in a responsible, ethical and professional manner
  • Conduct tours for individuals and groups
  • Represent SCC at campus and community events
  • Share first-hand information about their college experience and provide accurate and useful information to new students to assist them in transitioning into college
  • Encourage fellow students to complete their educational goals
  • Work 40 hours each semester
  • Be a good role model

All ambassadors serve one-year terms.
