Veterans Day will be celebrated on Monday, November 12 at 1 p.m. central standard time at the Clinton Center of Somerset Community College in Albany.
Event festivities include the presenting of colors by the Clinton County High School JROTC and a musical presentation from the third and fourth grade Albany Elementary choir. The event is free and open to the public.
Local veterans will be recognized for their service to our country with their names included in a Wall of Honor.
“I wanted to be in charge of the Veterans Day celebration at Clinton Center this year because my husband is a veteran and I feel they never get the recognition they deserve,” said Amanda Smith, business affairs assistant and organizer of this year’s event at the college.
“I decided to have a Wall of Honor in hopes that the community would get involved and call in with names of veterans they would like to recognize. This is just a small way that we can show a few veterans that we are truly thankful for all that they have done.”
Names of veterans to be included on the Wall of Honor will continue to be accepted until the day of the celebration. To add someone’s name or for more information about the event, please contact Amanda Smith at (606) 387-3705.
