Project BEAM of Russell County is currently accepting new participants. Project BEAM is a program aimed at assisting adults in obtaining a GED (certificate of high school equivalency). Project BEAM is funded through a grant to Somerset Community College by the Office of Migrant Education, U.S. Department of Education.
Project BEAM classes are open to anyone over 16 years of age, who work, or have a spouse or parents who work in temporary or seasonal farm work currently or within the past two years.
Students may be able to apply for BEAM assistance and receive payment for instructional time and assistance with GED testing fees. Project BEAM also provides free books and study materials along with one-on-one tutoring for students. The program also aids students with applying and enrolling in college.
