Anderson was nominated for the award by her peers and one of her adult education students.
In her nomination letter, the student wrote, “Not only is Claudia a wonderful educator, she is my friend and someone who gave me hope when I thought that there was none. Many people come to the center because they are court ordered to come there and many come with no hope, just like I did. (Claudia) treats every person that comes through the doors the same; she gives them hope and helps them achieve their goals. With her guidance, encouragement, and her genuine interest in my education and well-being, I made changes in my life that I had once thought to be impossible; I have competed 60 hours at SCC and I am now working on a Bachelor of Science at EKU…(Claudia) really is an amazing lady and deserves to be recognized for her incredible ability as an educator to the people in McCreary County.”
