Miss Somerset Community College to be named March 12th
“I originally participated in Miss SCC because I had a talent that I wanted to perform,” said Morgan, a singer, dancer and actor. “I was never a ‘pageant girl,’ but I always loved to perform. When I learned that talent was a huge portion of this program, I knew I had to do it.”
After winning the crown, and sharing the stage with the 2015 Miss Somerset Tyra Sengkhamyong of Dunnville, Morgan went on to the Miss Kentucky pageant where she was named a semi-finalist and was the winner of the “Kentucky’s Choice” on-line voting that occurred leading up to the pageant.
“There were so many wonderful things that came from participating in both Miss SCC and Miss Kentucky, but the best thing was making so many new connections. I met so many wonderful and talented people along the way who encouraged me daily,” said Morgan of her experience. “I learned that I was capable of doing so many things that I never thought possible. I learned how to hold myself with confidence and poise no matter the situation. My life was shaped drastically by this program.”
On March 12, 2016, another group of women will have the opportunity to compete for the title of Miss Somerset Community College. The pageant will be held at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset at 7 p.m. The pageant is again an official preliminary pageant for the 2015 Miss Kentucky Pageant, to be held in Lexington this summer.
The pageant is open to current and former SCC students, and to high school seniors from Adair, Casey, Clay, Clinton, Cumberland, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Lincoln, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Wayne or Whitley Counties.
Contestants will be judged in the areas of talent, personal interview, on-stage interview, swimsuit and evening gown. The winner of the pageant will receive a full two-year tuition scholarship to Somerset Community College, with additional prizes to be announced prior to the event.
“Not only is the Miss SCC pageant a program that will truly shape your life in a positive way, but it is scholarship based,” said Morgan. “It is a way to make new friends and connections, build your resume, perform, stay healthy and receive scholarship funds.”

The pageant is open to the public. There is no cost of admission, but donations to the Children’s Miracle Network will be accepted.
