SCC Physical Therapist Assistant Program Announces Outstanding Student Award Recipients

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program at Somerset Community College has announced its outstanding student award recipients for 2016.

Chris Kent of Campbellsville was named the winner of the 2016 Total Rehab Award, presented annually to an outstanding SCC second-year PTA student.  The award is peer-selected and is named in honor of the Total Rehab Center, which has contributed to the success of the PTA Program over many years.

Leah Huber of Lexington was named the winner of the James H. Anderson Award, presented annually to an outstanding SCC first-year PTA student.  The award is peer-selected and is named in honor of former SCC faculty member and PTA program director James H. Anderson. 

Two program graduates, Jason Fox and Travis Dills, have maintained perfect 4. 0 grade point averages.  Fox received the overall SCC Award for Academic Excellence at SCC’s recent Honors Night.  Dills has been recognized nationally by the American Physical Therapy Association and received a program leadership award. 

Other award recipients include:  Outstanding PTA Mentor Award: Jeffrey Ybañez; Outstanding Physical Therapy Student Organization Member Award and awards for community service, leadership and campus involvement: Hannah McAlpin; and awards for leadership and community service: Breanna Warner.
