SCC Theater and FilmSomerset Community College will conduct auditions for the 2016-2017 theatre season in Stoner Little Theatre on Monday and Tuesday August 29 and 30. Sign-ins begin at 7 p.m. and auditions begin promptly at 7:30 p.m.

An information packet, along with the scenes that will be used for the auditions, is available in SCC’s Theatre Office in Stoner Hall, room 108, on the SCC Somerset Campus, located at 808 Monticello Street in Somerset. An electronic version of the packet may be obtained by emailing SCC Theatre Director Steve Cleberg at Steve.Cleberg@kctcs.edu.

“SCC’s Theatre program is as much a community theatre as it is a college theatre,” said Cleberg. “We invite anyone who would like to be involved to join us at auditions.”

Cleberg also stressed that the auditions were non-competitive when compared to other theatre auditions.

“The best auditions are always from those who come and have fun,” he said.

Cleberg will be looking for talent for the upcoming fall production, Radio Suspense Theatre: The Next Episode. The play will require seven men and six women to fill out the cast.

About Radio Suspense Theatre: The Next Episode

The year is 1938. The Radio Suspense Theatre Ensemble has expanded their company and their suspense program has become popular across the United States. The crew is all atwitter about the fact that the famous radio and film personality, Winston Sayles, will be guest starring on the show just a year after his own radio drama caused a nation-wide panic. However, company romances are put on hold and friendships strain as the pressure rises as the big night draws closer.

Radio Suspense Theatre: The Next Episode will be presented in SCC's Stoner Little Theatre over three nights, November 17, 18 and 19, 2016. Rehearsals will begin in September.

Summerfalls

In the spring of 2017, SCC Theatre & Film will be working on two film projects. The first is the next episode of SCC’s web series entitled Summerfalls. This series tells the stories of the students who attend Summerfalls Community College. The other film project is yet to be named. Scripts for both will be determined by the talent available from the auditions.

As a part of SCC Theatre & Film's 2016-2017 season, the theatre program is excited to introduce the SCC Theatre Collaborative beginning in 2017. New short plays by local playwrights will be developed and members of the collaborative will serve as playwrights, directors, actors, designers and audience members. Works will be showcased in April, 2017. The program is open to experienced artists, emerging theatre students, audience members and all friends of the arts.
