Israel is a native of Greensburg, Indiana where she grew before pursuing a career in physical therapy. She is a 1995 graduate of the University of Kentucky where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. She has served as a clinical instructor for 20 years and has helped train students from several universities and colleges.
“I am extremely honored to receive this award,” said Israel. “Teaching students in a clinic brings about a renewal of commitment to learning, which is important for constant reeducation in a clinical environment.”
“As I watched her with her patients you could see the love she had for them,” said Kent. “You could see the joy in her as they progressed toward their goals. I hope as I go into the wonderful profession (of physical therapy) that I can take what Kay has taken time to teach me and change lives.”
Dr. Steve Hammons, the PTA program academic coordinator of clinical education said, “We are extremely pleased to recognize Kay with this award for the contributions she has made to our program and the physical therapy profession.”
