The Somerset Community College Medical Assisting (MA) Program recently hosted Dr. Thomas Mechas, MD, FACOG, FPMRS, as a guest speaker. Dr. Mechas spoke with MA students regarding the topic of Women’s Health, including diseases and disorders, prevention and current medical and surgical procedures.
Dr. Mechas is one of few female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery physicians in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He cares for obstetrics and gynecology patients at London Women’s Care. Dr. Mechas has also served as the medical advisor for the Medical Assisting program, which is housed at the SCC Laurel Campus in London.
“Students and faculty at SCC Laurel Campus are always appreciative of his annual visit, as Dr. Mechas provides current and important information to students,” said Medical Assisting Professor and Program Coordinator Karen Webb.
