Mary Petry Named Secretary of State Board

Mary Petry, manager of disability services at Somerset Community College, has been named secretary of KY AHEAD, the Kentucky Association on Higher Education and Disability board. Petry has worked with persons with disability for 20 years.  She began when she was appointed to the ministry for persons with disability for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky.  Petry has a master’s degree in math education from Eastern Kentucky University and has worked at SCC for nearly 18 years, 15 of those in disability services. Disability Services at SCC has offices at both the Laurel and Somerset Campuses.

KY AHEAD is a non-profit professional organization whose purpose is to promote communication among professionals in post-secondary education in order to improve the development and implementation of services to persons with disabilities.
