SCC received a gold award in the Feature Article category for the article titled, “Student Profile: Wayne Foley,” published in The Commonwealth Journal and written by Allison Horseman. Horseman also wrote articles that won two silver awards under the same category, with the titles, “Alumni Profile: Amanda Mendinsky” and “SCC grad participates in Extreme Home Makeover.”
Another gold was awarded in the category of Promotion Campaign for a Special Event for the college open house, held on all SCC campuses and centers in April, with graphics designed by Nancy Phelps.
In addition, a bronze award went to Stuart Simpson for the Programs of Study publication under the Academic Catalog category.
The NCMPR District 2 Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community and technical colleges in District 2 and is the only regional competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and PR professionals at two-year colleges. NCMPR’s District 2 is comprised of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, The Bahamas and Bermuda.
