Corbin School Joins in to Help

Shannon Johnson, instructor at Creations School of Cosmetology and former instructor in the SCC program, said she was involved in the Project Kid’s Christmas even as both a student and an instructor at SCC.
“I just loved being part of this event,” said Johnson. “I wanted our students to have the same opportunity to sponsor a child and see the pure joy on their faces during the event.”
Students from Creations School of Cosmetology sponsored one child, a 10-year-old girl named Amber.
“She really wanted black boots and Monster High stuff,” said Johnson. “She got everything she asked for and then some.”
In total, 24 kids were sponsored through the SCC program. Each child received items off their wish list and new coats, gloves, shoes and toiletries. Each child also received a new bicycle.
“We start taking applications for this event in September,” said Kim Robinson, family resource center coordinator.
Kay Swanner, Cosmetology program coordinator, said the students in the program work hard all year to raise money for the event.
“They have raised nearly $5,000 this year to provide an unforgettable Christmas for these children,” said Swanner.
